About Formation Book Studies

Think of it as a Christian book study with a contemplative rhythm—less about getting through the material and more about noticing what God may be forming in you.

You don’t need polished insight or the right theological language. Some weeks you’ll show up with clarity; other weeks with just a question, or a knot in your chest you can’t quite name yet. Both are welcome.

We’re not gathering to impress each other. We’re gathering to let the words on the page gently loosen what we’ve been carrying alone.

Meet Chrissy Lynn

Your Formation Book Study Group Guide

Chrissy Lynn holds a Master’s in Spiritual Formation & Direction and is a certified Spiritual Director. Years of walking alongside people in ministry taught her what books later confirmed: truth doesn’t move from head to heart all at once—it takes time, and often, a story. She believes a good book, read slowly and prayerfully, can shape us a little at a time.

Her passion is bearing witness to people who’ve spent years learning about God finally learning to be with Him. Chrissy Lynn will hold space for your questions and invite you to let the book become a mirror to your soul.

Whether you join Landscapes of the Soul or Sacred Attachment, you’ll be invited into the same slow, transformational work — just through a different book and a different room.

Landscapes of the Soul

Anxious. Avoidant. Chaotic. Secure. The Holsclaw’s name for four landscapes our faith can live in — shaped by the attachment patterns we carried long before we ever met God.

Together, we’ll learn to recognize our own terrain and walk the path toward what the authors call the pasture: a life of deep, secure attachment to the God who has never let go.

Who: For women who sense their faith has been shaped more by old wounds than they’d like to admit — and want language, not just longing, for finding their way to steadier ground.

When: Beginning in October. Thursdays at 6:30 pm ET.

Sacred Attachment

The way you connect with God today was shaped long before you had words for God at all — by the earliest bonds that taught you what closeness feels like, and whether it’s safe.

Together, we’ll use attachment theory and spiritual formation to name the hidden barriers to intimacy with God, and begin the patient work of loosening what’s kept you at a distance — until closeness with Him starts to feel safe.

Who: For men curious about how their relational story shapes their spiritual life — especially anyone who’s felt distant from God despite deep longing.

When: Beginning in October, Wednesdays at 6:30 pm ET.

Each week moves through a simple rhythm: we open in prayer, discuss that week’s reading, and reflect together on where we recognize our own story in it. We close with a practice or question to carry into the week ahead.

No. You’ll get a simple reading schedule when you sign up, so you’ll read alongside the group each week—not racing to catch up before it starts. Come as you are, even if that means you’re only a few pages in.

No. This is a spiritual formation group, not clinical therapy or counseling, and Chrissy Lynn is not a licensed therapist. Some material can surface real emotion, and that’s normal. If something comes up that feels bigger than the group can hold, we’ll gently point you toward additional support. If you’re already working with a therapist, this group can be a meaningful companion to that work, not a replacement for it.

Just your own copy of that season’s book and a willingness to be honest. A journal isn’t required, but many people find it helpful for the weekly reflection.
